Silvio Tiziani has a dual role as Chief Operating Officer for the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute and as Executive Director of EMBL Australia, the initiative to establish a partner laboratory to the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Australia.

As Chief Operating Officer (COO) Silvio is the senior administrator in the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute actively involved in the development and implementation of key Institute initiatives and related projects, pursuing corporate directions and goals and contributing to the leadership of the Institute. The COO role requires him to be broadly responsible for facilitating the development of policy and procedures in resources management, both human and financial, strategic business planning and developmental matters.  A key role is in coordinating and supporting a keen focus on strategic business development and the implementation of such development.

As Executive Director of EMBL Australia Silvio works closely with the Council Chair and Scientific Head to progress programs including the development of the EMBL Australia Partner Laboratory which will eventually see a nationally networked laboratory of 18 research groups operating according to the EMBL research philosophy - recruiting outstanding young scientists and providing international standard facilities and conditions for them to develop their scientific research and career.

A member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and the Australia Human Resources Institute, Silvio has extensive experience in financial analysis and budget management, business development, strategic planning and corporate governance along with the interpersonal skills to effectively lead staff.
