Terms of Reference
Authority
Under the terms of the EMBL Australia Deed of Agreement, the EMBL Australia Council may form subcommittees and advisory groups as required from time to time to make non‐binding recommendations to the EMBL Australia Council (Clause 4.2)
Purpose
The primary function of the Bioinformatics Advisory Group (BAC) of EMBL Australia Council is to assist and advise the Council in all matters relating to the provision of bioinformatics and related services to the EMBL Australia Partner Laboratory and the Australian life science research community.
Duties
The duties of the BAC are:
- provide expert advice re bioinformatics to Council and Partner Laboratory Groups
- support the establishment of bioinformatics related initiatives including the EBI mirror at the EMBL Australia Partner Laboratory node at the University of Queensland and a national bioinformaticians network
- other appropriate bioinformatics related items as directed by Council
Reporting Arrangements
- The Chairman of the BAC should present a verbal summary report of the Committee’s activities and deliberations drawing significant items to Council’s attention at its next full meeting.
- The minutes of the BAC meetings will be formally recorded and submitted to the Council for noting in a timely manner.
- The BAC will make reports and recommendations to the Council on matters within its terms of reference as it shall think fit.
