The EMBL Australia Council oversees and guides the activities of EMBL Australia, including both its Partner Laboratory Network and its Bioinformatics Resource (EMBL-ABR).

The EMBL Australia Council meets biannually and provides high-level strategic oversight and governance for all issues related to the implementation of Australia’s associate membership to EMBL.

The Partner Laboratory Network also has a Steering Committee, which is composed of senior representatives of each institution that forms part of the network and chaired by EMBL Australia’s Scientific Head, Professor James Whisstock, who reports on behalf of the committee to the EMBL Australia Council. The aim of the Steering Committee is to oversee the progress of the Partner Laboratory Network and ensure its benefits are being fully realised.
