In 2025, the 10th EMBL Australia PhD Course brought together more than 60 high-achieving PhD students from diverse research fields across Australia, giving them a head start in their scientific careers.
This unique two-week residential course featured scientific masterclasses led by Australia’s foremost researchers, hands-on learning opportunities, and professional skill development – ensuring the next generation of researchers is set up for success.
The 2025 course was co-hosted in Adelaide, in collaboration with the South Australian Immunogenomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI). The program centred on future-ready research skills, including interdisciplinary research, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).

EMBL Australia partnered with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Mathematical Analysis of Cellular Systems (MACSYS) to deliver essential training on the integration of biological and computational sciences.

We also partnered with The Solutions for Manufacturing Advanced Regenerative Therapies Cooperative Research Centre (SMART CRC) to deliver a one-day intensive workshop focused on the future of regenerative therapies in Australia.
