The EMBL Australia PhD Course is evolving.

After more than a decade of inspiring and connecting early-career researchers from across Australia, our much-loved PhD Course is currently under review as we develop the next generation of training opportunities.

Thanks to a $2 million NCRIS Step Change grant, EMBL Australia is developing AusRISE – Australia’s first research infrastructure fellowship program. As part of this initiative, AusRISE Next Gen will launch in 2027, building on the strengths of the PhD Course while expanding opportunities for participants.

This new two-week annual program will bring together PhD students from the health, life sciences and digital/data sciences to develop cross-disciplinary skills, visit national research infrastructure facilities, and join a national cohort of emerging technology and research infrastructure specialists.

Applications will open in early 2027. To stay up to date with the latest news from EMBL Australia, follow us on LinkedIn or subscribe to our newsletter.
