The EMBL Australia PLN Secretariat hosted a visit from Director-General Jean-Eric Paquet, Research and Innovation, European Commission at Monash University on July 24th, followed by a public event at the National Gallery of Victoria with Prof James Whisstock, Scientific Head EMBL Australia, and Bernie Hobbs, ABC Broadcaster.

Australian PhD students in the life sciences are eligible to apply for one of 10 travel grants of $2000 to attend the 21st EMBL PhD Symposium in Heidelberg, Germany, on 28 to 30 November 2019.

New research by Group Leader Max Cryle about an unusual antibiotic has great implications for future antibiotics.

Professor Eduardo Eyras joined the Partner Laboratory Network as a Group Leader at ANU in March. He is working on understanding the biology of RNA and cancer using computational methods.
